weekend games vs UVM

Happy Martin Luther King day for all the American’s out there, and being a day off from school practice took place in the morning today for the team instead the usual afternoon practice.  It was an intense weekend with 2 games against Vermont.  There was a definite buzz around the rink and in the dressing room heading into the weekend with so much on the line between the two teams.  With the heated playoff series that took place last year against the Catamounts the games against them always mean a little extra.  Friday night’s game was one of the best we have played all year, we fed off the huge crowd we had once again at Matthews (a topic I will dedicate a few posts to later on down the road) and were able to pull out a hard fought 3-1 win.  It seems like everytime we play that team the game comes right down to the wire, both teams are very evenly matched.  The Catamounts returned the favor with a 4-2 win on saturday night earning a big win on the road.  It was a sloppy game for us as a team with mistakes being made that are uncharacteristic, but the team that wanted it more won on that night and Vermont went home with a split.
